Before you start: Measure the corner and mark the chair, ottoman, and rug footprints with painter’s tape. Check that curtains can move freely and that the arrangement leaves your usual walkway clear.

1. Hang the wall art

Choose black-and-cream artwork to introduce contrast against a light wall. Position it above the planned chair area, checking the height from a seated viewpoint. Use mounting hardware suited to the frame’s weight and your wall type.

2. Define the space with a round rug

Lay the rug before bringing in the furniture. Let it extend beneath the chair’s front legs and the ottoman so the pieces feel connected.

A 5-foot round rug is a starting point to test against your taped layout; add a suitable nonslip rug pad.

3. Add height with an olive tree

Place the tree beside the window, slightly behind the future chair position. Separate and gently shape its adjustable branches for a fuller silhouette.

Leave enough space between the foliage and curtain so the fabric does not catch on the leaves.

4. Angle the chair toward the room

Set the chair on the back half of the rug and turn it slightly toward the open room. Avoid pressing it tightly against the wall.

Sit down before adding accessories to check the view, elbow room, and access to the seat.

5. Leave comfortable space for the ottoman

Place the ottoman directly in front of the chair, then test the distance with your feet resting on it. Keep enough room to stand up comfortably. The linked set includes a rectangular footstool; the inspiration images show a more rounded shape.

6. Bring the side table within reach

Position a small table beside the chair where you can set down a cup without leaning far forward. The linked black metal table has a 13-inch round top and stands 19.8 inches tall. Check that its legs do not obstruct the route into the chair.

7. Soften the chair with a throw

Fold the throw loosely over one arm, leaving the seat mostly clear and the fringe hanging naturally.

Its gray diamond pattern adds detail without introducing another strong color.

Keep the fabric off the floor so it does not bunch beneath the chair or table legs.

8. Style the table lightly

Finish with a narrow vase of white flowers, a small framed photo, and a cup on a saucer. Reuse accessories you already own.

On a compact tabletop, scale down the vase and frame until there is comfortable space for your drink.

Once everything is in place, try the nook as you would actually use it: sit back, reach for your cup, and put your feet up. Adjust the spacing until those small movements feel easy.
